The Whitewater Rescue Technician Instructor (WRTI) pathway is designed for river professionals and outdoor instructors. It is designed for teaching whitewater rescue techniques. Those needing a to teach a flood rescue capability should take the Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor course.
Prerequisites:
- Whitewater Rescue Technician (3 days)
- Whitewater Rescue Technician Advanced (4 days), Swiftwater Rescue Technician Advanced - Water (3 days), or Swiftwater Rescue Technician Advanced - Water & Rope (5 days)
- First aid qualification, appropriate for the environment in which they will be working.
Instructor training:
- Whitewater Rescue Technician Instructor training (5 days)
Instructor assessment:
- Whitewater Rescue Technician Instructor assessment (3 days)
Candidates are expected to further develop their personal skills and knowledge between their training and assessment courses, following an individual action plan outlined in the training course debrief.
Qualification valid for:
2 years

- Whitewater Rescue Technician - Foundation (WRT-F)
- Whitewater Rescue Technician – Recreational (WRT-REC)
- Whitewater Rescue Technician - Professional (WRT-PRO)
