Paul O’Sullivan

As director of R3 Safety and Rescue, Paul has played a key role in the development of Swiftwater and Flood Rescue and is seen as one of the most respected technical experts in this field.

As a highly experienced rescue trainer, Paul has delivered rescue classes in the UK & Europe and as far afield as Asia and South America.  Paul has led the development of a number of core Rescue 3  programs including the ‘Rescues from Vehicles in Water ‘ and ‘Management of Water and Flood Incidents’ courses.

In 2008, Paul was awarded a Higgins and Langley Memorial Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Swiftwater Rescue for his involvement in the UK Chief Fire Officers Association’s Management of Major Flood Event Research Project and currently sits on the UK Chief Fire Officers Association’s Water Rescue Group.

Paul’s rescue training experience builds upon his extensive international experience working on white water rivers as a raft guide and kayak coach and as an expedition kayaker, including first descents of rivers in Pakistan, Iran and Papua New Guinea.
