Rope Rescue Specialist (RRS)

The Rope Rescue Specialist (RRS) course is for rope rescue team members who need advanced technical solutions for complex rope rescue environments. It builds upon the content of the Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) and Rope Rescue Technician (RRT) courses. Upon completing the course, Rope Rescue Specialists will be capable of using a range of advanced techniques, including advanced offsets, solving complex rescue scenarios, and rigging and operating reeving highlines, amongst others.

  • Horizontal lifelines
  • Low-stretch cord anchors
  • Front-tensioned anchors
  • Artificial frames – sideways A-frames
  • Artificial frames – A-frames
  • Artificial frames – gin poles
  • Anchor frames for raising and lowering
  • Two rope offset
  • Deflected offset
  • Multi-stage/multi-pitch lower and raise
  • Reeving highline
  • Night/poor visibility operations
  • Solving complex rescue scenarios
  • Artificial anchors – rock anchors (nuts/stoppers and cams) (if used by agency)
  • Industrial lead climbing (if used by agency)
  • Horizontal aid climbing (if used by agency)
  • Powered winches (if used by agency)
  • Powered ascenders (if used by agency)
  • Artificial anchors – jamb beam anchors (if used by agency)
  • Artificial anchors – bolts (if used by agency)
