Flood Operations (FO)

The Flood Operations course has been designed in conjunction with UK district councils and the UK Environment Agency. The aim is to provide emergency planners and emergency workers with the necessary knowledge and techniques to enable them to assess and work in flood environments. The course is a mixture of theory input and in-water practical sessions.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a confident swimmer
  • Minimum age: 18

  • Conditional rescues – talk, reach, throw
  • Shallow water techniques
  • Foot and body entrapments
  • Boat/sled options (if used by agency)

The course standards, learning outcomes and key teaching points are provided as pre- and post-course reference for people involved in the delivery of Rescue 3 courses (eg Rescue 3 training providers, instructors and students). They are not to be used for any other purpose without the express written permission of Rescue 3 Europe.

Water and flood non-rescue support operations training moduleWorkers and volunteers who are not from rescue organisations who work in support of flood response (Annex G).
