Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor (SRTI)
The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor (SRTI) pathway is designed for emergency services personnel or rescue training professionals who will be teaching clients who need a swiftwater and flood response capability.
Prerequisites:
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT)
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Advanced – Water (SRTA-W)
or
Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) and Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Advanced – Water & Rope (SRTA-W&R) - First aid qualification, appropriate for the environment in which they will be working.
Instructor training:
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor training (5 days)
Instructor assessment:
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician Instructor assessment (3 days)
Candidates are expected to further develop their personal skills and knowledge between their training and assessment courses, following an individual action plan outlined in the training course debrief.
Qualification valid for:
2 years
Able to teach:
- Water and Flood Awareness (AW)
- Basic Water Rescuer Foundation (BWR-F)
- Basic Water Rescuer (BWR)
- Flood Operations (FO)
- Lifejacket Competent User (LJCU)
- Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR)
- Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT)
- Safe Working in Water (SWIW)
- Water Awareness and Safety (WAS)
- Rescues from Vehicles in Water (RVW), if also attended the Rescue From Vehicles in Water course or workshop
