Confined Space Entry and Rescue (Low and Medium Risk) (CSERLM)

The Confined Space Entry and Rescue (Low and Medium Risk) (CSERLM) course builds on the foundation content of the Safe Working in Confined Spaces (Low and Medium Risk. Horizontal and Vertical) (SWCSHV) course. In addition, this course introduces the skills required to undertake co-worker rescues from low and medium risk confined spaces, including the use of a vertical lift of a casualty in a rescue stretcher.

  • Loads and forces
  • Medical considerations
  • Respiratory protective equipment (RPE) – escape sets
  • Use of a 4-gas diffuse meter
  • Confined space ventilation
  • Knots and terminations
  • Anchor systems
  • Dynamic risk assessment and safety checks
  • On-scene safety briefing and site control
  • Standard tripod configuration and mechanical hoisting
  • Work restraint
  • Vertical confined space entry and exit
  • Emergency procedures
  • Reach type rescue with a telescopic pole
  • Raising/lowering systems and mechanical advantage
  • Confined space rescue harnesses and stretchers
  • Casualty care and packing
  • Rescue of a casualty from a low/medium risk confined space
